2018 Gerard Bertrand Grand Terroir Tautavel
Usually Syrah, Grenache and Carignan
Wine Enthusiast named his winery Europe’s best in 2011, but Gerard Bertrand began as a rugby player representing France and Narbonne. It wasn’t until the early death of his father that he returned to take the reigns of the family operation, Domaine de Villemajou in Boutenac, Corbieres. He soon identified the potential of the Languedoc-Roussillon to produce rich yet bright, modern wines suited to world market trends and from there began acquiring labels and properties across the region. Balancing an organic and increasingly biodynamic viticulture with an evangelical zeal for exporting his Mediterranean ‘Art de Vivre’, Gerard Bertrand has quickly become one of the most important champions of that which epitomises Southern French wine of today: superb quality in quantity.
What The Critics Say
91/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Joe Czerwinski (2017 vintage)
"Darker, riper and more concentrated than the Les Aspres bottling, the 2017 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Tautavel Grand Terroir offers blueberries, black cherries and licorice notes on the nose. It's full-bodied and supple, with a creamy mouthfeel and a long, velvety finish that hints at chocolate and plums. Nicely done!" Drink 2019 - 2025
