"Following a wine retail background going back to 1966, Paul and Jill Buttery established Gemtree Vineyards in 1980 when they purchased a vineyard on Tatachilla Road in the McLaren Vale. The grew the business releasing their own Gemtree label in 1998. Son Andrew Buttery now heads the company, and his sister Melissa and her husband Mike Brown look after the viticulture and winemaking. The company has made the commitment to sustainability, practising biodynamic farming and achieved Australian Certified Organic certification in 2011. Gemtree owns over 130 ha of vineyards across three main sites and makes a large range of wines over different tiers." Raymond Chan

"Deep red/purple colour - very good for grenache - with a gently herbal, floral grenachey aroma, fruit driven, with a lick of pepper. The wine is full-bodied and deep, with excellent structure and grip, bright berry flavours and oodles of charm. An excellent full-bodied, structured grenache that will reward some cellaring.
