Another superb value Riesling from Haag, made in an off-dry style. This wine was formeraly released under a more humble label, named for the Braunenberger village, but Haag finally decided to reveal on the label the top single vineyard (Juffer) from which it has traditionally been sourced. Great value at a village price, the Juffer Kabinett is a slightly sweet but refreshing delight.

Its Origins

The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.

What The Critics Say

91/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Stephan Reinhardt

"Oliver Haag has stopped suppressing the vineyard name on the label of his Brauneberger "village" wine, so the newest release comes along as 2018 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett. The wine has a very clear, fresh and crunchy slate bouquet but is still reductive (in a very attractive way, though) before it opens to very clear, attractive ripe stone fruit aromas intertwined with spicy slate notes. On the palate, this is a clear, lush, fresh, salty-piquant and delicately structured Riesling with gorgeous fruit and a crisp, salty/slatey finish. Tasted in April 2019." Drink 2026 - 2045

17/20 Jancis Robinson

"Very light and refined on the nose. Delicate and pure." Drink 2020 - 2028
