Its Origins

Dog Point Vineyard combines the considerable winegrowing experience of Ivan Sutherland and James Healy - both of whom were key players in establishing the quality of Marlborough's Cloudy Bay Vineyard. Their philosophy is total involvement from the vineyard through the winemaking process to marketing regionally distinctive and vineyard expressive wines. Fruit for their wines is sourced from selected vineyard plantings dating back to the late 1970's.

What The Critics Say

96/100 Bob Campbell MW

"Very stylish chardonnay with purity and power. Tangy, vibrant wine with citrus, green apple, oyster-shell, ginger and baguette crust flavours. A bright, youthful, high-energy wine that gives a nod in the direction of Burgundy. Drink 2020 to 2026"

94/100 Cameron Douglas

"Alluring scents of ripe citrus and apple, peach, quince and a touch of golden kiwifruit followed by spices and mild toasty barrel layers, vanilla and raw sugar then a gun-flint soil complexity. On the palate – youthful and vibrant with layers of barrel spice and wood underpinning flavours of stone fruit and citrus reflecting the bouquet. Fine wood tannins, medium+ acidity, knocking on the door of full-bodied and a satin texture showcases both this wines deliciousness now, potential for cellaring and readiness for food. Well made, youthful and best cellared for a while longer with best drinking from late 2021 through 2029+."
