What The Critics Say
Winemaker notes on current 2018 vintage
"Schist based alluvial loess soils, 30 meters deep. 100% Pinot Noir from own rooted vines, planted 1998. Biodynamic principles, practiced from 2011. Organic certification to European Union equivalence. All fruit hand-picked and destemmed. Aged for 11 months in French oak. Zero additions. Bottled March 2019, no added Sulphur. 13.8% alc/Vol. 700 x 6 bottle cases The question is one of accessibility, flow and form."
95/100 The Wine Front, Mike Bennie (2017 vintage)
"Big blind tasting, but this one stood out, not least because it was different, but also delicious. Wonderful label, now I see it! Delightful. Smells like Foillard with its peaty/earthy notes, ozone. Ripe cherry, some flowers, spice and the like. Fleshy, yet fresh, with a little slurry of ripe tannin, a slight edginess, raspberry and cherry, rolling silty finish of freshness and length. Expressive."
17.5-/20 Raymond Chan (2016 vintage)
"Light red with slight purple hues. The nose is tightly bound, quite elegant, a tad lean and slender, but with fine concentration of red berry fruits with herb and earthy interest. On palate richer than the nose suggests, but still taut and slender in expression. The fruit is not shy, showing freshness and brightness. Lifted by herbal elements that carry to a light finish. 100% Abel clone, certified BioGro organic, destemmed and fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in neutral oak, total sulphur at < 10 ppm. 17.5-/20 Nov 2017 RRP $36.00."
