Amisfield was established in 1988, a Central Otago based specialist producer of pinot noir and aromatic white wines created from fruit grown on the estate vineyard beneath the Pisa Mountain range in the Cromwell Basin. This privately owned company's 200ha property, once a prominent high country merino station, is one of the largest single vineyard estates in the Central Otago region. Over 80ha is currently planted with the majority of the vines being over ten years old. A state-of-the-art purpose built winery is the focal point of the vineyard and produces 20,000 -30,000 cases of wine annually. Pinot Noir accounts for over 60% of the production with the balance made up of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling. This wine is made from 9 clones of pinot noir and grown on several different soil types, adding complexity to the wine.

precise acid back-bone gives good
94/100 Bob Campbell (2017 vintage)
"From Amisfield's vineyard in the Pisa subregion. A cool vintage has allowed the grapes to reach full maturity with good, bright acidity. An elegant, vibrant wine, perhaps more refined than usual, with plum, dark cherry, spice, anise, thyme and nutty oak flavours. 11 OCT 2019." Drink 2019 - 2024
94/100 Cameron Douglas Master Sommelier (2015 vintage)
"Toasty, smoky and fruit bouquet with the signature of Pinot Noir – red berries, cranberry, crisp new season cherry then wood spices and oak. On the palate – dry with a decent core of fruit contrasted by some new oak moments, fine tannins, youthful acidity and a synergy of texture adding complexity and length. A great example of Otago Pinot Noir that will please many fans of the style. Best drinking from late 2018 through 2028."
