Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault
For the last 15 years, oenologist Xavier Vignon has become internationally known for being the winemaker of several of the best domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Rhone, such as Le Nerthe, Marcoux and Grand Veneur. In 2002 some friends (who are wine importers) asked him if he can create his own wine. Choosing amongst the best wines he has made, he creates Rhône wines of different vintages and appellations. His ideal wine is easy to understand, modern, powerful and great value for money. Before settling up in Rhône Valley, Xavier worked as a winemaker in Alsace, Champagne (Moët & Chandon), Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Burgundy and Languedoc-Roussillon.
What The Critics Say
89/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck (2014 vintage)
"The first rosé I've tasted from Xavier, the 2014 Cotes du Rhone Rose is a beautiful blend of 40% Mourvedre and 20% each of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, made via saignée (or bleed off from skins), that was raised all in stainless steel. It's a clean, refreshing and elegant effort that has vibrant watermelon, flower blossom, raspberry and a touch of salty minerality on the nose. Well-made, balanced and highly drinkable, it's a terrific value that's well worth a multiple bottle purchase."
"This is an up and coming, small, high quality negociant operation run by oenologist, Xavier Vignon and two partners. Tasting through this portfolio in September confirmed the efforts they are making to turn out high quality wines at reasonable prices."
