A balancing act of hugeness with finesse: the quality end of Aussie GSM. As 'negociants' Two Hands source only the best fruit then lovingly de-stem, select and extract lots and lots of rich deliciousness from it. 'Sappy' raspberry flavours shout Grenache while the colour and complex spicy flavours from Shiraz and Mataro (Mourvedre) nail that GSM magic in a really polished, impressive way.

Its Origins

Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. The original aim shared by Michael and Richard was to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized Shiraz growing regions throughout Australia. Their intention was, and still is, to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the primary feature of the wines. Two Hands refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes, no matter how big or small. The wines are carefully guided through the viticulture and winemaking process by Michael Twelftree.

What The Critics Say

Winemaker notes on 2016 vintage

"Buoyant raspberry, red cherry characters with a restrained savoury palate, grainy tannins backed by integrated oak. A serious food wine that shows what a wonderful marriage these three varietals make if blended with balance in mind."

90/100 Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown (2012 vintage)

"Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Brave Faces Grenache Mataro Shiraz opens to aromas of warm plums, kirsch and red currant jelly with hints of baking spices and milk chocolate. The medium-bodied frame is filled out with plenty of soft and cuddly red berry and spice flavors, a medium level of velvety tannins and enough acid to give lift though the long finish. Drink it now to 2018+."
