2017 Jadot Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots
In Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, where the integrity of the producer is often more important than a renowned appellation or vineyard, Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most venerable, most trusted and revered wine houses. Jadot’s winemaking team, now led by Technical Director Frédéric Barnier, has maintained a balance of tradition and technology in winemaking that allows Jadot’s wines to express the subtle differences between terroirs that are the essence of fine Burgundy. Though officially retired in 2013, esteemed winemaker Jacques Lardière continues to work in an advisory role and on special projects. Founded in 1859, the house has grown through a long-term policy of acquisition or management of exceptional vineyard lands and owns 528 acres of vineyards, including nearly 280 acres of the Cote d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots.
What The Critics Say
91-93/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Neal Martin
"The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a refined, precise bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, woodland and cigar box aromas that gently waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity, quite caressing in terms of texture, with gentle but insistent grip toward the finish. This is a fine, quite assured Les Boudots that should give 12 to 18 years of drinking pleasure." Drink 2020 - 2036
90-93/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, William Kelley
"The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey) wafts from the glass with aromas of dark fruit, licorice, baking chocolate and exotic spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand, with rich but fine-grained structuring tannins and succulent acids. It's a charming example of Jadot's Boudots that will make friends out of the gates but age with grace. -- Jadot's Frédéric Barnier is pleased with his 2017 portfolio. It's a good white vintage, he says, neither over nor underripe, and in some instances—as is the norm at this address—malolactic fermentation was blocked to retain additional freshness."
89-942/100 Burghound, Allen Meadows
"Firm reduction renders the toasty nose unreadable today. By contrast there is good freshness and detail to the admirably rich, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess impressive persistence on the mouth coating, complex and moderately structured finish. This is an opulent Boudots that isn't quite as vibrant as the other Nuits 1ers." Drink 2027+
