A ripe and spicy Syrah from Southern France. This red has the richness and satisfaction of any other sun-kissed Mediterranean, but with organic fruit and no added sulphites it is also extremely natural and pure, in a slightly earthy sort of way. Darkish fruits and savoury spice make this a smooth and harmonious red for any palate or occasion. Yummy.

Its Origins

Wine Enthusiast named his winery Europe’s best in 2011, but Gerard Bertrand began as a rugby player representing France and Narbonne. It wasn’t until the early death of his father that he returned to take the reigns of the family operation, Domaine de Villemajou in Boutenac, Corbieres. He soon identified the potential of the Languedoc-Roussillon to produce rich yet bright, modern wines suited to world market trends and from there began acquiring labels and properties across the region. Balancing an organic and increasingly biodynamic viticulture with an evangelical zeal for exporting his Mediterranean ‘Art de Vivre’, Gerard Bertrand has quickly become one of the most important champions of that which epitomises Southern French wine of today: superb quality in quantity.

What The Critics Say

Winemaker notes on current vintage

"This Syrah has a wonderful, deep red colour and aromas of ripe fruits with delicate hints of liquorice. This wine is generous, well-structured and blessed with a superior aromatic complexity."
