A premium cuvee of Chateaneuf from a leading consultant in the Rhone. The anonyme respresents a step up in structure and fruit selection from Xavier Vignon's standard Chateauneuf label. While it will age a littl longer, it retains the same lush fruit and roundness of tannins that make it delicious already. Stocks are low of this exceptional label!

Its Origins

For the last 15 years, oenologist Xavier Vignon has become internationally known for being the winemaker of several of the best domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Rhone, such as Le Nerthe, Marcoux and Grand Veneur. In 2002 some friends (who are wine importers) asked him if he can create his own wine. Choosing amongst the best wines he has made, he creates Rhône wines of different vintages and appellations. His ideal wine is easy to understand, modern, powerful and great value for money. Before settling up in Rhône Valley, Xavier worked as a winemaker in Alsace, Champagne (Moët & Chandon), Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Burgundy and Languedoc-Roussillon.

What The Critics Say

95/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Joe Czerwinsky

"The striking 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme is 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and the rest minor varieties (there's no Syrah). Aged in a mix of foudres, demi-muids, barriques and concrete tanks, it shows hints of mocha and toast on the nose, but the blackberry and red plum fruit is mouthwatering and fresh, richly concentrated and spicy. Full-bodied, it manages to be ripe, silky and concentrated, while remaining crisp on the lengthy finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." Drink 2020 - 2035

93/10 Vinous, Josh Raynolds

"Brilliant magenta. Expansive red and blue fruit, floral pastille, exotic spice and vanilla qualities on the highly fragrant nose. Broad and seamless on the palate, showing appealingly sweet Chambord, boysenberry, lavender and spicecake flavors that pick up a zesty mineral flourish with air. Plenty rich but lively as well. Finishes impressively long and smooth, with resonating florality and velvety, slow-building tannins." Drink 2024 - 2033
