Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. The original aim shared by Michael and Richard was to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized Shiraz growing regions throughout Australia. Their intention was, and still is, to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the primary feature of the wines. Two Hands refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes, no matter how big or small. The wines are carefully guided through the viticulture and winemaking process by Michael Twelftree.
What The Critics Say
92/100 The Wine Front, Campbell Mattinson
"It’s a hard wine to deny. It slips straight into the drinking zone and yet it has the overall structure to see it mature well over the medium term, if not longer. It’s not a big wine but it’s balanced on a pinhead. It tastes of anise, black cherry, redcurrant and violets, the fruits showered by sweet, meaty spice notes. There’s some toasty oak here but it’s just drifting in the background. If you enjoy drinking McLaren Vale Shiraz, you will enjoy drinking this."
91/100 Huon Hooke
"Deep, dark colour with lots of purple, and the aroma is concentrated and very deep, with floral notes over dark berries. A rich, concentrated young wine with loads of youthful vigour. Drive and power, soft fine tannins, and plenty of ageing potential. 07 OCT 2017." Drink 2017 - 2031
94/100 Halliday's Wine Companion. James Halliday (2014 vintage)
"While there are no half measures with the weight or shape of this wine, it has a touch of elegance running alongside its blackberry, blood plum and dark chocolate fruit; the tannins wait until the last moment to join forces with the oak to speak clearly of the long future ahead. Great value."
