A fresh and complex Marlborough Pinot made with no added sulphites. Biodynamic producers Seresin are always careful to maintain the purity of their wines, but the OSIP range takes it a step further by getting no added sulphur at all. By harvesting a little earlier the acidity is kept a little fresher, which along with an extraction of fine tannin helps the wine preserve itself in the natural way. Even so the OSIP more than offers "value at this price", with a refined but vibrant display of classic Pinot berry fruits and toasty spice complexities. (No sulphites added)

Pinot Noir

Its Origins

The Osip wines are made without the use of sulphur in the winery. They are a pure expression of the Seresin Estate philosophy, wines that wholly reflect us, our vineyards and the vintages from which they come. Harvest was earlier than for the other Seresin Pinot Noir, in order to retain acidity and ensure a lower alcohol wine. Founded in 1992 by cinematographer Michael Seresin, after developing a passion for wine and food while living in Italy, he became aware of the growing potential for great wine in his home country. Falling in love with the Marlborough sounds, he purchased a home there, accompanied by land in the Wairau valley, which became the home vineyards. Planting of vines began immediately, followed by the importation and planting of Tuscan olive varieties and significant plantings of natives. Seresin's first vintage was in 1996, and two other vineyard purchases followed, with the Tatou vineyard in 2000, and land in the Omaka Valley which became the Raupo Creek vineyard a year later. A longtime vegetarian with organic leanings, this has led to Seresin estate's organics program, and then logically into biodynamics. Clive Dougall is the winemaker. Minimal intervention in the winemaking process is employed, with hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed grapes fermented by wild yeast. Fining and filtering are often eschewed.
