A gorgeous dessert Muscat from Spain that Robert Parker calls a 'tour de force'. Opulently sweet but with real finesse and freshness, it took almost 8kg of grapes to make each half bottle: this is a seriously concentrated wine for the price. A very versatile dessert accompaniment that's delicious now or for a good few years. One to try.

Its Origins

Jorge Ordonez is the owner of a dynamic group of well branded labels and wineries focussed on bringing Spain's incredible value proposition to the world market. From key holdings across many of Spain’s regions - some less famous, but all wildly undervalued for the available climate, gnarly old vines and terroir - the Ordonez-group produce large volumes of inexpensive labels at quality levels that are testing experts’ vocabulary for superlatives. They do this by employing the best winemakers and modern technologies but, more importantly, by staying on song: not getting sidetracked by international varieties but on the contrary respecting and tapping Spain’s deepest resource - local tradition and local varietals - allowing the group to convert forgotten local vineyards into into stunning global assets overnight. As the world wakes up to Spain’s distinctive regional offerings, the chances are Jorge Ordonez and friends have already made them your favourite drop.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Luis Gutierrez

"Their most popular wine, the 2016 Victoria #2, bottled with 10.63% alcohol, 190 grams of sugar and eight grams of acidity, achieves a rare balance between all the components. It matured in contact with the lees for eight months. This is a sweet wine that has more primary character of the grape, with tons of orange blossom and other white flowers. It's made with fresh Moscatel grapes and is not fortified, so it has great balance between sugar and alcohol. 24,000 bottles were filled in March 2017. -- Jorge Ordoñez has a full project in the impressive slate slopes of Málaga where the Moscatel de Alejandría produces a range of wines from sparkling to dry, sweet and super sweet. This is one of the zones I need to visit in the future to bring you all some photos of those really unique vineyards.." Drink 2018 - 2021

92/100 and Editor's Choice, Wine Enthusiast

"The 2013 Victoria #2 is an elegant white offering up notes of peaches, pineapples, mangoes and other assorted tropical fruits. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively, in spite of its remarkable residual sugar level, this is an exotic, classic example of 100% Moscatel de Alexandria. Enjoy it over the next several years."

17.5/20 Jancis Robinson MW (2013 vintage)

"Very fragrant, intense, complex and youthful nose showing stone fruit, ripe quince, caramel, lime and lemon. Superb winemaking. Lusciously sweet but well balanced by lively acidity and a touch of saltiness. Wonderful sweet wine. Moscatel de Alejandria. 70-year-old vines planted on slate soils. Hand-harvested in September, the grapes are dried in the winery for one and a half months, grapes are then cooled, pressed, fermented until they reach 10% and fermentation is stopped by cooling. 7 kg of grapes needed for a 375 ml bottle."
