The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.
What The Critics Say
"A touch of smoky/herbal wild-ferment character on the nose then total lemon and lime purity on the palate. Fine, fine shape and a long finish. At the moment it is relatively one-dimensional but give it a few years for more complexity without loss of freshness. GV (JH)." Drink 2019 -2026
90/100 Wine Enthusiast (2015 vintage)
"Demure lemon and lime on the nose turn fleshy and ripe on the palate of this delicately sweet Kabinett. Lush peach and tangerine flavors are offset by laser darts of acidity and earthy mineral complexities. The finish lingers on a pleasantly bitter lime-pith note."
