Its Origins
On the east side of Soave is the village of Terrossa, where the Franchetto family has lived for over a century. Antonio Franchetto continues his family’s long history of cultivating the traditional grapes of these lands: Garganega (used for this wine) and Pinot Grigio. Now his daughter is also at the helm bringing new vision to this quality focused winery.
What The Critics Say
Best Veneto Wine, 95/100 and 'Platinum Gold' in Decanter World Wine Awards 2017
"Pear and toffee apple nose with a long and glossy palate overflowing with grapefruits, yellow plums and cedar. It matches extreme flavour intensity with finesse on a stupendously long palate. Another glass please."
Winemaker notes on 2016 vintage
"The volcanic soil gives the wine a note of rare elegance and complexity. Our Soave “La Capelina” [offers] a beautiful freshness and mineral olfactory sensations of flint, citrus and flower, in particular cedar and lilies, apricot and elderflower. The palate is very persistant. Excellent with fish-based first courses, as the traditional Veneto dishes, such as risi e bisi (risotto with peas), risotto with pumpkin and risotto col pessin de risaia (risotto with fish caught in the rice fields). It is also well paired with spicy meats such as the soppressa veneta. In addition, it is well paired with fresh or semi-matured cheese varieties such as the Monte Veronese DOP mezzano."
