100% Melon de Bourgogne
Formerly the family seat of the Loré de la Ragotiere family, the Chateau dates back to the 14th Century. It was bought, along with it's 30 hectares of land by the winemaking Couillard family in 1979. The soils in this corner of the Loire Valley are composed of free-draining schist and micaschist, which help to extend the growing season, creating late-ripening, well-structured wines with more intensity than the average Muscadet.
What The Critics Say
92/100 Wine Enthusiast
"Old vines, up to 60 years old, are the basis of this concentrated, ripe and intense wine. It is impressive and tightly wound, with layers of rich citrus fruit and a chalky texture. This is still a little young, so drink from 2018."
Parker's Wine Advocate, Robert Parker (2012 vintage)
"This old vine cuvee (most vines over 50 years of age) was aged on its lees for eight months in stainless steel. A crisp, classic Muscadet made from tiny yields of 25 hectoliters per hectare, it exhibits lots of grapefruit and other assorted citrus notes in a fresh, light-bodied style with surprising intensity for a Muscadet. Drink it over the next 1-2 years."
