A rich-fruited yet classy Merlot from Bordeaux's Saint Emilion. This estate no longer produces a reserve wine, so the value under this label has been pegged up even higher by the inclusion of all their best fruit. Having Michel Rolland as consultant winemaker doesn't hurt either. For a lengthy future in cellar or a mouth-filling and characterful red in the shorter term, this great vintage of Haut Brisson is an exceptional choice.

Merlot and Cabernet Franc

Its Origins

Château Haut-Brisson is now located on the limestone plateau of Saint- Etienne-de-Lisse and the gravelly hilltops of Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens and spreads over 22 hectares. In 1997, Peter Kwok acquired Château Haut- Brisson in partnership with this daughter Elaine. The property benefits from a diversity of terroirs of ideal exhibitions en- joying maximum exposure to the midday sun and excellent natural drainage conditions allowing optimum harvest. Château Haut-Brisson practices organic farming.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

"The sumptuous, racy 2015 Haut-Brisson has turned out beautifully. Super-ripe dark cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, exotic spice and new leather meld together in this effortless, beautifully resonant Saint-Émilion. Readers should expect a bold, full-throttle style. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc." Drink 2020 - 2035

92/100 Wine Cellar Insider

"The first vintage made with their new parcels, and they no longer produce a reserve wine has created the best vintage of Haut Brisson ever made! The wine is deeply colored with a spicy, smoky, floral and dark cherry profile. On the palate, the wine is sweet, elegant, fresh and delivers a succulent mouthful of juicy plums and a hint of bitter chocolate in the finish. The reduction in the amount of new, French oak barrels used for the aging process has added a lot more freshness and energy to the wine."

91-93/100 Wine Enthusiast

"Barrel Sample. The new wood flavors are strong here. They go with a minty character and bright acidity. The wine is dry and concentrated, with a firm core as well as juicy black fruits. It is beginning to balance well."
