Austerity is sourced from exceptional but lesser known vineyards along California’s Central Coast, where grapes capable of producing extraordinary wines can still be found at reasonable prices. They source from up-and-coming appellations including Arroyo Seco, Santa Lucia Highlands and Paso Robles.
What The Critics Say
"This bottling is very showy on the nose with tons of white flowers, tuberose, guava and mango, though a slice of lime peel cuts the tropicality a bit. Guava peel, feijoa and bitter limes show on the sip, where that slightly treacly tropicality reigns."
Winemaker notes on current 2016 vintage
"This creamy, layered Chardonnay features aromas of crème brulee, golden apples and toasted marshmallows. The palate reveals tropical fruit and pineapple flavors complemented by a velvety texture and rich, buttery finish. Pair with herb-crusted halibut with minted sweet pea purée, or a spread of mild, semi-soft goat and cow’s milk cheeses."
