A serious Zinfandel from a very old single vineyard in Russian River, Northern California. The Carlisle vineyard was planted in a cooler part of the Valley in 1927, long before it was surrounded by new-comers like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It's more elegant expression, but with a "Rhone-like" presence and depth from the old tradition of interplanting Zin with "mixed black" varieties, to deepen the colour. Thus a unique Zin-dominant "field blend" from an historic vineyard, the 2015 Carlisle is a great wine from a great year -- and a taste of history. Limited stock!

Its Origins

Novy is a label of the Siduri brand, which is run by the Jackson Family portfolio of estates. Based in the Sonoma Valley, Siduri released thei first hand-made, family owned Pinot Noir wines in 1994. From the outset their loving attention in the vineyard and winery have gained them critical acclaim, with single-vineyard Pinot Noir continuing to be the focus of the Siduri label, which is still run by its original owners but was purchased by the Jackson Family in 2015. Under the Novy label, Siduri also make reds from the extraordinary old vine Zinfandel vineyards which occupy the warmer sites in the area.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Robert Parker (2014 vintage)

"The brilliant 2014 Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard comes from a Zinfandel-dominated, old vine vineyard. With notes of licorice, incense, black raspberry and black cherry fruit, the wine also offers hints of pepper and roasted meats, but loads of fruit in a full-bodied, opulent, exciting and consumer-friendly style. Drink it over the next 5-7 years." Drink 2016 - 2023

91/100 Wine Enthusiast (2014 vintage)

"Dried sage and a hint of saddle leather highlight this dry, dusty wine noteworthy for its bright, buoyant acidity and layering of red currant. It delivers plenty of full-bodied flavor within a complex, approachable experience."
