A prime Chardonnay from a sea-facing vineyard on a ridge-top above Sonoma Valley. With a clear view of the sea, this elevated and "extremely cold" site provides the grapes with such a long hang time that they can be harvested as late as November. Combining semi-opulent tropicals, candied citrus and blossoms with mineral and maritime savour, this is a deeply compelling wine that stands at the top of the Hartford Court range. Its Origins

Hartford is an estate belonging to the Jackson Family holdings. Hartford’s wines are rare. Year after year, they rank among the most sought-after collectables from California. Since the 1994 vintage, owners Don and Jenny Hartford have built the winery’s reputation on limited-production, handmade, single-vineyard Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Old Vine Zinfandels from some of Northern California’s greatest vineyards. Hartford Family Winery is located in the town of Forestville, roughly 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. This is the heart of the famed Russian River Valley. In addition to their own estate, Hartford harvests fruit from a handful of prized vineyards throughout the Russian River Valley, Green Valley, Carneros, Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley. These are all high-reputation, low-yielding, sustainably-farmed sites situated in cool-climate sub-regions. Without exception, Hartford’s wines are intense, thought provoking and expressive of both variety and terroir. They have been served at the White House on many occasions and are staples on “Reserve” wine lists around the country. Since 2011, Jeff Stewart, a specialist in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel, has been in charge of winemaking.

What The Critics Say

99/100 Jeb Dunnuck

"Another huge, yet elegant Chardonnay, the 2015 Chardonnay Seascape Vineyard boasts a deeper gold color to go with a powerful, deep bouquet of buttered citrus, tangerine, baking spice, and awesome salty minerality. With full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless, incredibly pure and precise texture, and a huge finish, this is another incredible Chardonnay from this team. The Seascape Vineyard is located on a panoramic ridge-top west of the town of Occidental facing Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean, and this 2015 was barrel fermented and aged 16 months in 42% new French oak."

96/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Seascape Vineyard is located on a panoramic ridge-top west of the town of Occidental facing Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean, and was planted in the 1980s to Spring Mountain Chardonnay clonal selection. It receives native yeast fermentation and is barrel fermented in French oak, 42% new, where it ages for 16 months prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2015 Chardonnay Seascape Vineyard offers intense grapefruit, orange blossom and lemon peel with hints of cedar and buttered toast. The full-bodied palate is brimming with lemon tart, brine and toasty flavors with a great acid backbone cutting through the concentrated creaminess, finishing with wonderful freshness. 221 cases were made." Drink 2017 - 2024

93/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

"The 2015 Chardonnay Seascape Vineyard is deep, viscous and exotic. Tropical fruit, vanillin and yellow orchard fruit are all pushed forward in this racy, flamboyant wine. A touch of botrytis comes through in the wine's oiliness and overall flavor profile. The Seascape is the most exotic of the Chardonnays in the Hartford Court range." Drink 2018 - 2025
