Fontodi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico precisely in the valley which lies south of the town of Panzano and is called the “Conca d’Oro” (the golden shell) because of its amphitheatre shape. A genuine and characteristic terroir, famous for centuries for its tradition of quality wine cultivation, thanks to a unique combination of high altitude, calcar clay-schist soil, lots of light, and a fantastic microclimate. Owned by the Manetti family since 1968, Fontodi is a certified organic estate which extends over 130 hectares of which about 70 are planted with vines. The type of agriculture practised is inspired by the principles of respect for nature and sustainability. Not only are no chemical products used but there is an effort to maximize the internal resources of the estate, thereby reducing the need for any external input.
What The Critics Say
91/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner
"This is a great vintage for Sangiovese, and Fontodi embraces this fact with exuberance and enthusiasm. The 2015 Chianti Classico offers tight and precise fruit characteristics with crisp forest berry, cassis and dried blueberry. The wine is profoundly steady and straight with absolutely no rough edges. This is a lean to mid-weight red with balanced acidity tucked in on the finish. Some 200,000 bottles were produced." Drink 2018 - 2028

"Pure and fresh with really admirable purity. Gorgeous and very much of this place. Long with fine tannins. Bravissimo! Current release. Aged in French barriques for 18 months. 170,000 bottles produced." Drink 2018 - 2023
