After working with Marcarini in La Morra, Elvio Cogno returned to his family village in 1990 to rebuild an historical farm into the home of one of Piedmont's more important Barolo producers. Now daughter Nadia and her husband Valter Fissore are the force behind the rising fortunes of the house, producing strictly classic wines with modern cleanliness and technique, low yields and sustainable, closely managed vineyards.
What The Critics Say
91/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
"The 2015 Barolo Cascina Nuova is a very pretty entry-level offering from Elvio Cogno. Bright red berry and lifted floral notes pair nicely with the wine's gracious, mid-weight feel. Silky tannins match the wine's finely sculpted, saline-infused personality. The Cascina Nuova is a terrific example of the bright, taut Barolos made here in 2015. I would prefer to drink this gracious, lithe Barolo over the next decade or so." Drink 2019 - 2030

"Novello. From young vines of the Ravera Cru. 30–35 days of total skin maceration. 20,000 bottles produced.
Beautiful, lustrous ruby. Fantastic, exotically savoury spice nose with notes of pure cherry and cranberry fruit. With aeration increasingly lifted and perfumed. There is concentration of fruit on the palate as well as fine integrated acidity that peaks at the finish together with fine crunchy tannins. Elegant. (WS)" Drink 2019 - 2026
