Today the Burgundian wine domaine of Bouchard Pere et Fils can trace its origins back to 1731, though it is no longer family owned. In 1995 the Champagne house Joseph Henriot acquired the company and quality has risen as a consequence. Bouchard is led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet, while the wines are made by Philippe Prost - who has been with the company since 1978. An impressive gravity-flow winery on the Route de Savigny, the Cuvérie St Vincent, was completed in 2005 and enables them to process all their wines with optimum efficiency. Bouchard’s total holdings comprise 130 hectares, including 12ha of grand crus and 74ha of premier crus, which makes them the largest vineyard owners in the Côte d’Or.

"The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a composed, citrus peel, granitic bouquet that feels a little "cooler" than others that I have encountered, the altitude and clay soils lending this the reserve to counterbalance the precocity of the growing season. The palate is well balanced with pleasing acidity, tightly-wound with a noticeable marine element that becomes more pronounced towards the finish. It has the weight and intensity you expect from a Corton-Charlemagne and it should repay those who cellar it for 5-7 years. This is a fine effort in such a warm vintage." Drink 2018 - 2032

"This is perhaps the freshest wine in the range and the least marked by the high ripeness of the vintage with its wonderfully pure nose of citrus elements that combine with floral and green apple scents. There is fine intensity to the muscular, dense and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that even manage to display a certain refinement on the sleek, dry and wonderfully long finish. Good stuff and while I wouldn't describe this as classic in style, it still offers much to like." Drink 2023+

"(from a high-altitude, windy, east-facing vineyard in which maturity generally arrives late, preserving the wine's freshness): Very pale color. Pungent aromas of apple, spices, toast, white flowers and flinty minerality. Lovely fresh apricot fruit is given verve by enlivening acidity and a touch of orange peel. In a very ripe, extract-rich style, finishing with a slightly tannic impression and a touch of bitter orange. This would make a great digestif. The crop level here was just 29 hectoliters per hectare as a sizable percentage of these vines are 80 years old. This wine actually showed a creamier, sweeter middle palate as it opened in the glass."
