A plush but sophisticated Garnacha (Grenache) red from the legendary Artadi. This is a red with altitude (6000 feet) so Artadi's expert touch with powerful, lush fruit is brought to the freshness and defined complexity that comes with elevation. The warmth of 2015 has delivered a truly delightful and effortless style, based on ripe and perfectly crafted old vine Grenache. Drink or cellar.

Its Origins

This is the first vintage that Artadi have produced this wine and they wanted to over deliver on it in a big way. Produced from 13 hectares of fairly old vines (35 years old) they have purchased in the village of Martin de Unx in the Navarra region, close to Rioja. "Produced to show the personality of a unique Garnacha and the wine tradition rooted in this medieval village. 35 year-old vineyards placed on a slope at more than 600 meters of altitude, in a winemaking region with great Pyrenean influence. A vibrant and fruity wine, with soft and fresh tannins. It´s a wine full of power and authenticity."

What The Critics Say

90/100 Wine Advocate, Luis Gutierrez (2012 Vintage)

"There is a new wine called Pasos de San Martin, which was produced for the first time in 2011 with grapes from 13 hectares of old vines they have purchased in the village of Martin de Unx. The idea is to produce two “village” wines, one from Artazu (the Santa Cruz) and this new one from San Martin. The wine from San Martin is slightly lighter and less deep than the wine from Artazu. The fruit is red rather than black, with good acidity for a ripe vintage, keeping the elegance and balance, with some roasted coffee and chocolate flavors toward the end. It’s quite approachable and pleasant. Drink 2014-2019."

17/20 Jancis Robinson (2011 vintage)

"Very exciting and muscular with wonderful freshness. Similar vines to the Domaine Lupier ones. Massively satisfying."
