Serious wine, Roussanne is an underrated Rhone variety and the experts at Yalumba show us why. With floral stonefruit backed with proper concentration, complexity and mineral acidity, this wine also has a kind of spicy herbal theme that meshes beautifully with antipasti and savoury foods (think pork!). Its Origins

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston, Barossa Valley, seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around". Five generations and 160 years later Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, and since 1989 the company has been run by Robert and Sam Hill Smith. Yalumba owns over 1000 acres of vineyards, as well as buying in grapes from selected growers, some of whom have been working with Yalumba over 4 generations. The winery is modern and hi-tech and is one of the very few wine companies in the world to have its own cooperage!

Silky, seamless and broad on the palate, offering juicy citrus and pit fruit flavors complemented by subtle fennel and floral nuances. In an elegant style, with a long, smooth finish that leaves gently sweet orange and candied ginger notes behind. "
