2019 Wooing Tree Pinot Noir

This appealing, aromatic Central Pinot is a customer favourite and for very good reason -- always delicious, with zero hype. It is not too heavy in style, but with a lovely perfumed depth of Central's dark cherry and spice (from that warm valley floor around Cromwell) as well as fine tannins and a little age, it is drinking beautifully. It's a no brainer so don't think it, drink it.

What The Critics Say

91/100 Bob Campbell MW

"Appealing, aromatic pinot noir, with almost lush plum and berry fruit flavours together with spice, anise and a suggestion of fresh herbs. Fine, peppery tannins give the wine a gentle backbone. It lacks a little depth. 22 DEC 2020." Drink 2021 - 2026

95/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (2018 vintage)

"It's fabulously fruited and perfumed on the nose showing sweet cherry, toasted almond, subtle spice, olive and floral aromas. The palate displays excellent concentration and persistency backed by silky texture and fine grainy tannins, finishing wonderfully long and seductive. This is gorgeously composed and expressed. At its best: now to 2028. $48.00. www.wooingtree.co.nz. July 2020."

92/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2017 vintage)

"Really lovely bouquet with aromas of wild flowers and red cherries, wild dried thyme and a sandy, gravel soil. Judicious oak use with a French vanilla and toasty spice notes. On the palate - youthful, tense, dry and loaded with textures from fruit to oak tannins, medium+ acidity and complex, lengthy finish. A wine destined for your cellar (if you can show some love for that) and let it integrate more please. Best drinking should be from 2021 through 2025. In the meantime - decant for service and serve with Canterbury lamb roast to medium-rare."
