Takapoto Estate is an equestiran and wine estate located on the banks of lake Karapiro in Waikato, with some fruit sourced locally and most in other regions. Wine maker Andy Anderson has had a lot of success in the last couple of years, particularly with the Pinot Noirs. In 2017 the Takapoto Estate Single Vineyard Bannockburn 2012 won the worlds best Pinot Noir Trophy at the London International Wine & Spirit competition (IWSC). Andy won the trophy again in 2018 with the Takapoto Estate Single Vineyard Gibbston valley Pinot Noir 2014. Takapoto also took out the IWSC NZ producer of the year in both 2017 and 2018. Bob Campbell named Takapoto Estate 'Best New Label From NZ’ and awarded us a certificate of Excellence.
What The Critics Say
Gold Medal, International Wine and Spirit Competition
96/100 Bob Campbell MW (2012 vintage)
"This first release from a new producer hit the ground running by winning a trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in the UK. It s a supremely elegant and seamless pinot noir with plum, dark cherry, spice and anise flavours underpinned by a subtle dried herb and savoury character, and supported by smoky oak. An impressive wine."
