Mount Edward is a small winery located in the heart of the Gibbston grape growing district, 25 km from Queenstown, in Central Otago, New Zealand. Founded in 1997, the winery was started by one of the pioneers of Central Otago wine, Alan Brady. Originally started as a small personal project Mount Edward has evolved from its humble beginnings as a stand alone Pinot Noir and Riesling producer. Today the winery has vineyards in the best sub regions of Central Otago, producing wines across a number of varieties and styles. Since 2004, winemaker Duncan Forsyth and proprietor John Buchanan, have focused Mount Edward on growing small batch premium single vineyard wines that reflect site and season. As part of this, all estate vineyards, and the winery itself, are certified organically. Only 286 cases were made from the Morrison vineyard, located in the Lowburn subregion of Central Otago from 15-year-old Pinot Noir vines and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

"Dijon clone fruit from the ‘Morrison’ Lowburn vineyard from vines dating back to 1997, indigenous yeast fermented with 30% whole clusters to13.8% alc., the wine aged 15 months in French oak, none new. Even ruby-red colour with slight purple hues and light garnet on the rim. The bouquet is soft and elegant, piquant and lifted with ethereal red berry fruits interwoven with red florals, unveiling harmonious layers of complexing thyme herbs with whole cluster dried herb nuances. Savoury undergrowth, earth and mushroom detail grow in the glass. Medium-full bodied, a softly packed and concentrated core of savoury soft red berry fruits is melded with complexing dried herb, earth and whole cluster stalk notes. The fruit is rich and sweet, but balanced by fine-grained, flowery tannin grip and structure that carries the wine to a dry, refined, textural finish with an amalgam of sweet fruit, herb and floral flavours.
