Our best $20 Aussie red? Glaetzer dials it back yet makes a serious all-rounder: slurpy richness from Shiraz with Cabernet cassis and fine tannins giving flavour and structure through...to a long finish of exotic earthy spices. Complete and satisfying, this is very, very good drinking for the price.

Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon

Its Origins

From vines 15-18 years old and aged in old oak for 12 months this is the first release of this new wine from Heartland and they have put their best foot forward to impress at the $20 price point. This certainly overdelivers as proven by Star Rating from James Halliday meaning it is a wine of excellent value for money.

What The Critics Say

90/100 Halliday's Wine Companion, Steven Creber

"Easy-going, undemanding, and ultimately quite satisfying. This is a wine which does its job very well. It offers ripe berry aromas, a touch of spice, a hint of chocolate and warm earthiness on the bouquet. The palate is soft, although quite mouthfilling, with slightly sweet-toned fruit which has a definite regionality about it. Right on the money for its place in the market."

92/100 Tony Love's Top 100 Wines, July 2016 (2013 vintage)

"This blend can really deliver above price-based expectations, here with a lovely earthy, spicy, foresty, floral, herbal set of aromatics then the cabernet adding its varietal enticements that follow through with a good presence in the mouth from soft tactile tannins that allow some licorice-like nuances to lift and linger in the finish. Top easy drinking."

Windsor Dobbin, The Sunday Examiner May 17th, 2015 (2013 vintage)

"A ripping everyday drinking red from Ben Glaetzer, brother of Tasmania's Nick, this is a blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon grown in the under-rated Langhorne Creek region of South Australia. It is quite a big wine with forward dark fruit, juicy, brambly and soft with restrained older French and American oak. An almost 50-50 split of shiraz and cabernet, this also has some attractive spice and herb notes and would be well matched with leg of roast lamb."
