A beautiful red from France's hot South, St Chinian is an auspicious name in deep, concentrated red-blends. Here Bertrand's sustainable and organic viticulture adds quality to an already staggering value. His vineyards benefit from a coolish microclimate that preserves fresh, defined black fruits against the riper, richer depths, along with the classic Mediterranean herbs. Beautiful.

Its Origins

Wine Enthusiast named his winery Europe’s best in 2011, but Gerard Bertrand began as a rugby player representing France and Narbonne. It wasn’t until the early death of his father that he returned to take the reigns of the family operation, Domaine de Villemajou in Boutenac, Corbieres. He soon identified the potential of the Languedoc-Roussillon to produce rich yet bright, modern wines suited to world market trends and from there began acquiring labels and properties across the region. Balancing an organic and increasingly biodynamic viticulture with an evangelical zeal for exporting his Mediterranean ‘Art de Vivre’, Gerard Bertrand has quickly become one of the most important champions of that which epitomises Southern French wine of today: superb quality in quantity.

What The Critics Say

Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 vintage)

"Gerard Bertrand makes a bevy of high-class wines from throughout the Languedoc and Roussillon. The wines emphasize fruit and texture, with a modern edge, yet they are never over the top and are always well-made and enjoyable."
