Sebastiani is a Sonoma producer with a proud history and, in modern times, a stunning quality-for-value offering across the globe. After immigrating from Tuscany in 1895, Samuele Sebastiani laboured in the Sonoma hills making cobblestones for San Francisco streets. Here he saved the money - and no doubt surveyed the land - for property to make wine for the city’s restaurants. Over the decades Samuele’s son August became one of America’s leading winemakers of his time. August’s children too were successful - so much so that a massive Central valley operation was built up and sold off to refocus on the Sebastiani home label, and two out of three siblings began their own wineries. In 2008 Sebastiani was acquired by the large Foley stable of companies, at which time the already high quality culture was increased steeply, with a reduction in yields on top of a heavy investment in new expertise, oak and technology resulting in both Sonoma and single vineyard wines of almost incomparable quality for the price.

"Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with light green on the edge. The bouquet is full of fresh and lively yellow stonefruit and citrus aromas intermixed with butterscotch MLF notes, nuances of bacony oak and subtle, mouthwatering flinty elements. Medium-full bodied, fulsome stonefruit and buttery flavours feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is bright and lively, with fresh, zesty acidity, balancing the fruit richness, and the flavours are carried along a fine-textured line, leading to a crisp, dry and elegantly proportioned finish. This is fresh and crisp Chardonnay with stonefruit and buttery flavours and a dry finish. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. 98.8% Chardonnay with 0.2% each Rousanne and Viognier and 0.8% other whites, hand-picked and WBP, approx. half barrel-fermented undergoing MLF, the remainder cool-fermented in tank to 13.9% alc.
