Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina
Established in 1997, the Roccolo Grassi winery is named after it's most important vineyard and run by father Bruno Sartori, daughter Francesca and oenologist son Marco. Making superb Valpolicella styles and whites from neighbouring Soave, Roccolo Grassi's balance of traditional varieties and techniques with modern technology and temperature control is putting them at the leading edge of Veronese producers.
What The Critics Say
93/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni (2011 vintage)
"The 2011 Valpolicella Superiore is a real stunner. Freshly cut flowers, bright red berries, cinnamon and mint are all laced together in a wine of exquisite finesse and nuance. In 2011, about 50% of the fruit was air-dried for about 20 days, while the wine was aged in equal parts cask and French oak barrique."
90/100 Wine Advocate, Monica Larner (2011 vintage)
"The 2011 Valpolicella Superiore impresses for its richness and the purity of its red fruit aromas. The blend is 60% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 5% Croatina. The wine is aged in both botte grande and barrique in equal parts. Dark raspberries and blueberries segue to leather, spice, toasted almond and barbecue smoke."
