A superbly refined and balanced Chardonnay from a great producer, grown in a lesser known region of inland New South Wales. 2 Tropheys and 5 Gold Medals show its serious class. Tumbarumba is located on the Western side of the Snowy Mountains, where the highest winegrowing elevation in the area gives this wine its name, 842 metres above sea level. The fruit profile is juicy and succulent and allows mealy, mineral and oak characters to play their balanced part. A great example of what classy Aussie Chardy can do.

Its Origins

One of Australia's most historic producers, McWilliam's Wines were founded in 1877. They now have vineyards in New South Wales' Riverina, Hunter Valley and Hilltops wine regions, as well as the Yarra Valley of Victoria, Coonawarra in South Australia and Margaret River in Western Australia.

What The Critics Say

95/100 The Wine Front, Campbell Mattinson

"This is a chardonnay. It's a pearler. It tastes of white peach, oatmeal, citrus and river stones, smoky/creamy oak then finishing the job beautifully. A seamless wine. A powerful wine. And impressively long too."

94/100 Huon Hooke

"Light to medium yellow colour, with a more complex bouquet than the Appellation chardonnay, and a lot of finesse. Traces of honey, malt and minerals, with a faint dairy-like note (from partial malo?). A superb combination of complexity and subtlety, richness and delicacy. (A selection of the best grapes from the vintage. Two vineyards.)"
