Lisini is one of Montalcino's oldest wine estates. The Clementi family fought alongside the Medicis in their conquest of Montalcino, for which Capt. Silvio Clementi was rewarded with the Pecci palace in Montalcino, as well as buying another propriety in Sant’Angelo in Colle. Today, signor Filippo Paoletti is responsible for making the five traditional wines, using cement and large oak casks. With Lodovico’s Lisini's death in 1950, his daughter Elina took over, believing in the estate’s potential and initiating the very first bottling until her death in 2009. The Lisini were among the founding fathers of the first Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio in 1963; with Elina becoming one of its Presidents. The current generation of Lisini - Carlo, Lorenzo and Lodovica - continue to uphold the family tradition.
What The Critics Say
94/100 Wine Enthusiast
"At once powerful and graceful, this delivers alluring aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, raspberry compote, grilled herb, licorice and an intriguing tarry note. Fresh acidity and firm, velvety tannins provide balance and structure, while a hint of pipe tobacco closes the lingering finish." Drink 2020 - 2032
91/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner
"Lisini has created a very respectable expression of Sangiovese. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is rich and intense both in terms of appearance and bouquet. Aromas peel back with delicate layers of dark fruit, pressed rose petal, baking spice and grilled herb. The wine is not overtly rich or opulent. Yet, it delivers a steady approach in terms of mouthfeel and texture.” Drink 2017 - 2028
17/20 JancisRobinson.com, Walter Speller
"Tasted blind. Healthy mid ruby. Fine, perfumed and focused nose with a little lift. Quite pure, concentrated and embryonic fruit on the palate. Great balance and style and with wonderful bite and length. (WS)" Drink 2019 - 2028
