A rich and robust Mediterranean red - with stylish X factor too thanks to Hecht and Bannier's excellent sources. Full of floral and spice aromas with gob-smacking weight and presence of ripe black fruits on the palate, it also has a proper spine of tannins that are just as they should be - ripe but not so perfectly polished that you forget where this wine comes from. Our own import - try it quick!

Its Origins

Hecht & Bannier is a négociant-éleveur company, a joint venture founded and run by Grégory Hecht and François Bannier, who are based in Bouzigues on the north shore of the Bassin de Thau. Having met at Dijon University in 1993, they decided to join forces to buy, assemble and age complementary wines from the very best growers in selected Languedoc-Roussillon appellation areas to create fine wines that are truly expressive of the terroirs chosen. Increasingly journalistic recognition are at testament to the quality of Hecht & Bannier.

What The Critics Say

90/100 Wine Spectator, Kim Marcus

"Concentrated and muscular, this red is packed with ripe black currant, blackberry tart and ganache flavors. Licorice and incense aromas add a rich touch. Chewy tannins grace the long, spice- and herb-infused finish. Syrah, Mourvdre and Carignan. Drink now through 2020."

Parker's Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2012 Faugères, which is a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan, has a straightforward feel to its sweet black fruits, chocolate and mineral-like aromas and flavors. There’s good tannin here, it’s medium-bodied and it has a nice finish. It should have 4-5 years of solid drinking. Hecht & Bannier always release well-made, high quality efforts."

17+/20 Jancis Robinson

"Syrah, Mourvèdre. Opulent, supercharged nose – loads of impressive flavour here – liquorice, plum, blackberry. Powerful yet not lumbering. Dark chocolate on the finish."
