A softly rich, beautifully defined LBV from Graham's. Made with some of the finest fruit, though aged in barrel a few more years than the 'vintage' bottling, the LBV has succulent depth and dimension with - thanks to the oxidation in oak - softer and more rounded flavours. Thus released earlier than the vintage but much more ready-to-drink, this poised yet immensely satisfying Port is full of pleasure and pedigree. Delicious vintage wine for a very low price!

Its Origins

The story of two families across three centuries. For almost two hundred years W & J Graham’s has been an independent family business renowned for producing the finest Port wines.Graham’s has always been a pioneer. Graham's was one of the first Port companies to invest in its own vineyards in Portugal’s Douro Valley in 1890 and is now at the cutting edge of innovation in winemaking techniques. Today, five Symington cousins share responsibility for every aspect of the company and personally make the Graham’s wines. They too have been involved with Port and the Douro for many generations, with ancestry dating back to the mid-17th century. Graham’s owns five mountainous vineyards, which are located in different parts of the best wine-growing areas of the Douro region. Each property has the maximum ‘A’ grade classification. Much of the original wild flora has been left deliberately undisturbed amongst the vines on these estates to preserve the indigenous biodiversity, which Graham’s believes contributes to making wines with a more unique and powerful expression of this terroir.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Wine Spectator

"Shows lots of energy, with brambly grip running from start to finish, while blackberry and boysenberry confiture flavors form the core. Mouthwatering dark chocolate and warm fruitcake notes fill in the background. Approachable, but worth cellaring for a touch. Best from 2018 through 2023.

90/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Mark Squires (2011 vintage)

"The 2011 Late Bottled Vintage Port was bottled with a bar top cork and 111 grams per liter of residual sugar. If I thought the Dow's (reviewed this issue) had big aromatics, this may top it in its youth. Per the house styles, this seems friendlier and more exuberant in fruit flavor. It is just a bit tight, matching Dow's in structure, but the Dow's seems to surpass it in concentration. As often happens with these two houses, it is a matter of pros and cons for what you prefer as a style. This is the sexier, but not necessarily the better."
