Crazy discount price on a complex, organic Waipara Pinot Noir -- just when it's drinking its best! Aromatic red and darkish fruits are enlivened by properly dry acidity, savoury herbs and chalky-mineral grip on the palate. Really great food Pinot. Fancrest have a low intervention philosophy in vineyard and winery, letting bio-ruch soil give healthy fruit needing little manipulation. From a hillside vineyard and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The artisan quality is palpable -- this is a steal.

What The Critics Say

93/100 James Suckling

"With bright, ripe mixed summer berry fruits on the nose, this has a really striking purity to it. There's a gently gamy edge too, and there's more complexity to come. The palate has impressive tannin shape, really fanning out nicely. Fleshy purple berry fruit flavors are cast alongside, holding the finish well. Drink or hold. Drink now."

93/100 Blindtasted.com, Andreas Larsen

"Medium deep ruby red with some evolution. Fine and complex nose, some meaty notes, wild berries, fine spices and discreet wood. The palate has good grip and weight, present but fine tannin, good dose of freshness, wild raspberry flavour and mild spices, really persistent and intense flavour with some meaty notes, long and intense finish, sexy and appetizing."

91/100 Cameron Douglas Master Sommelier

"A bouquet of intrigue with aromas of limestone and clay followed by fresh plum and red to darker red cherry fruit suggestions; some brown spices and toasty oak moments. On the palate, dry, savoury with plenty of oak spice and toasty wood attributes; older rose and a developing nutty quality; moderate to fine tannins, plenty of acidity and a tense structure just beginning to relax after some time in the glass."
