Master winemaker Carlo Ferrini has been consulting with top Tuscan stars such as Casanova di Neri, Mazzei, Brancaia, Petrolo, Castello del Terriccio, Talenti, Barone Ricasoli, and was awarded "Winemaker of the year 2008" by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. More recently he began releasing his own wine called Giodo under the Brunello d Montalcino and Toscana Rosso designations. With high awards coming early, including a perfect score of 100/100 from James Suckling for the 2010 Brunello. Ferrini's Giodo label has entered at the top and established a place among the very best Sangiovese wines from Tuscany.
What The Critics Say
96/100 James Suckling
"The aromas of this Brunello are fresh and fascinating with mushroom, chili pepper, black berry and plum. Full body, ultra fine tannins and a super length. This is a great bottle for the vintage."
94/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner
"Carlo Ferrini's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a deliciously lush and soft expression of Sangiovese that offers great aromatic depth, complexity and intrigue. The wine keeps you guessing and in my case it took me a little while to wrap my head around it. Dark cherry and blackberry are harmoniously integrated with spice, leather, mocha and tobacco. It does, however, need a few moments to find balance. I know that winemaker Ferrini says he prefers this vintage to his 2010 Brunello." Drink 2017 - 2030
90/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
"The 2011 Giodo Brunello di Montalcino is a new wine from well-known oenologist Carlo Ferrini. Dark, powerful and sumptuous, the 2011 wraps around the palate with considerable fleshiness. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice are all pushed forward in this decidedly bold, extroverted Brunello. The Giodo Brunello is a classic Carlo Ferrini wine built on textural depth. It will be interesting to watch how future vintages unfold." Drink 2016 - 2025
