Celler Vinos Pinol was founded in 1945 and today is led by the fourth generation of the family. The estate owns 100 acres in the town of Batea in the Terra Alta DO located just a few miles from Priorat and is a desert like, harsh environment where most of the vines are old bush low yielding types. Powerful, intense and great value are their characteristics. Well worth trying as they drink like $40-$50 wines.

Aged Tempranillo from an excellent producer at excellent money- all the ingredients for a great drinking wine. This wine has been produced from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from vineyards in Navarra. The Tempranillo grapes, are given a long maceration and then blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which add fullness and give ageing potential to the wine.
"Full ripe soft fruit nose, with a touch of spice. Full bodied, with a good fruit balance. Complex palate with hints of oak. A deep aftertaste, witness to its age and origin."
This is what the spanish excel at. Releasing aged reds at a reasonable price. Simply gorgeous drinking.

You would have to say this is one of the best value reds on the market.

Marques de Irun, a consistently good producer of Verdejo, is owned by Lustau, the famous producer of Sherry. Parker writes "The 2010 Verdejo displays fragrant pit fruits, an attractive vein of minerality, and hint of nutmeg. Lively on the palate with good concentration and balance, it will provide pleasure over the next 2-3 years." Typically producing crisp wines with soft, creamy, nutty overtones, Verdejo is arguably Spain's finest white grape variety.
