Our most popular Rioja. "Muga’s red wines begin with the Muga Reserva, a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, with the balance Mazuelo and Graciano. It was aged for 6 months in wooden vats before spending 2 years in 60% new French and American oak. "A complete modern Rioja with cola, cassis and smoky aromas. Excellent mouthfeel and toasty black fruit and licorice flavors work well together, and the finish is refined, warm and peppery. Not an overly lush wine but it is generous and loaded with a bit of everything good: body, tannin, acidity, flavor and complexity." Parker

A fantastic white rioja. "90% viura and 10% malvasia; all new French Allier barriques Greenish yellow. Oak-spiced aromas of tangerine, pear and candied lemon, with a smoky, leesy quality gaining strength with air. Broad and fleshy, with ripe orchard fruit flavors, a touch of lemon rind and a supple texture. Bitter citrus and anise qualities linger on a persistent, palate-staining finish. Shows a lot of depth and complexity for the money." 90/100 Tanzer

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $400/bottle)
The 2004 Vina El Pison is purple/black in color with an ethereal bouquet found only in the greatest wines. Vanilla, spice box, truffle, wild blueberry, black raspberry, and blackberry liqueur are descriptors that come to mind but which cannot really convey the other-worldy nature of this perfume. On the palate, it is opulent, beautifully delineated, elegant and powerful all at the same time. Impeccably balanced and amazingly long, this wine is a pleasure to drink now but will still be providing pleasure 40-50 years from now (with good storage). Kudos to Bodegas Artadi for this tour de force! 100/100 - RP

Fernando Remirez de Ganuza's goal is simple: to make the best wine in Rioja. Not a small task considering the number of extremely high quality producers in this famous region of Spain. But Fernando has risen to the challenge. Since 1989, this seriously exciting producer has slowly aquired some of the best vineyards in the area. Combining the fantastic raw material these vineyards produce with a no-expense-spared approach in the winery ( down to selecting only the grapes from the shoulders of the bunches as they believe these hold greater flavours than the grapes than the other grapes in the bunch ) has resulted in some of Rioja's most incredible wines.
"Dark in colour with rich, concentrated aromas of raw steak, blueberries and a lovely floral component right near the end. Silky, fine tannins, round in the mouth and a lovely bright acidity. Festive flavors linger on my palate of blue and black berries, coffee and anise seed.

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $400/bottle)
The prodigious, inky/purple-colored 2001 Grandes Anadas marries elegance with tremendous power and flavor intensity. It represents Spain's version of Comte de Vogue's Musigny ... in a top vintage. Aromas of spice box, violets, raspberries, blackberries, plums, cherries, and an undeniable minerality are found in this structured, ripe, phenomenally intense red. The finish exceeds one minute, yet it gives the impression that it is not close to being mature. While it offers plenty of enjoyment now, ideally it should be given 3-4 years of cellaring and consumed over the following two decades. 98/100 - RP

One of the quality leaders in Rioja, Bodegas Fernando Remirez de Ganuza has produced superb wines in the more difficult 2003 vintage and the idyllic 2004 vintage. Both vintages are composed of 85% old-vine Tempranillo, 10% old-vine Graciano, 3% old-vine Garnacha, and 2% other. The wines are estate grown and bottled from 4 parcels with age ranging from 34 to 97 years. The wine is aged for 2 years in French and American oak prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

"80% monastrell and 10% each of syrah and cabernet sauvignon): Deep, bright ruby. Ripe red berry and cherry aromas show good depth and a hint of jamminess. Fleshy and smooth in texture, offering sweet raspberry and cherry compote flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. The suave finish features notes of blood orange and candied flowers."90/100 Tanzer

We only have a note on the 2009 vintage: "The 2009 Tempranillo is riper, richer, and more concentrated. It, too, is forward and approachable and will deliver pleasure for another 3-4 years." Parker. Classic spanish rose - light and delicate with a hint of berries and dried flowers. The perfect wine for these hot summer days ahead. This is made by the classic 'saignee' method where a small amount of juice is bled off the grape skins after a very short maceration, creating a pale and delicate rose.
