Methode Traditionnelle

2006 Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage Methode

Normally $47. "Cloudy Bays Marlborough sparkler is made in a slightly broad style that may not win acolades for its finesse, but it certainly has plenty of flavour. Ripe stone fruit and candied citrus characters are enhanced by plenty of creamy richness and depth." Cuisine

$42.99

2007 John Duval Plexus

$43.99

Grandin Methode Traditionelle Brut

Elsewhere $21.99. Gold at the International Wines and Spirits Competition and rated by Wine Spectator alongside Moet saying "Yellow gold fruity bouquet, crisp finish. Outstanding quality." Also Michael Cooper writes "This vivacious bubbly, from a long-established Loire Valley producer, is made by the classic methode traditionnelle technique. Light lemon/green, with an eruption of small bubbles, it is fresh and lively, with good delicacy and depth. Very easy to enjoy, it offers plenty of citrusy, appley, slightly yeasty and toasty flavour and an appetisingly crisp finish." Simply unbelievable value.

$16.99

Cloudy Bay Non-Vintage Pelorus Methode

Normally $36 . 5 stars by Bob Campbell. Bob writes "This is a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir grapes with at least two years ageing on the lees in bottle. The style has evolved from a big, rich and rather oxidative wine to a finer more elegant model available today. I favour this latest version- a delicately aromatic sparkling wine with a mix of apple, toast, mineral and yeast flavours. It's a fine textured, very elegant and sophisticated methode that gives a faint nod in the direction of Champagne."

$31.99

Quartz Reef Methode Traditionelle Brut

Normally $34. "The non-vintage Methode Traditionelle Sparkling is sourced from Gibbston and Bendigo, displays a captivating nose of oyster shell, orange-blossom and granite; the palate very well-balanced with good acidity and touches of lemon zest, green apple and just a faint hint of elderflower on the bone-dry finish. I doubt you will find a better non-vintage New Zealand sparkler." 90/100 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

$27.99

Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut Methode Traditionelle

This sells in the States for USD40.00. Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut builds on the 200-year winemaking tradition established by Champagne Louis Roederer in France. The first California sparkling wine produced by Roederer, the Anderson Valley Brut has established a reputation as one of California's premier sparklers. It is superb and has had huge reviews. "Nothing quite matches Champagne in either quality or price, but few other bubblies come close, like Roederer Estate, made in California's enigmatic Anderson Valley by the same firm that produces the sumptuous Cristal in France." New York Times "A tremendous sparkler that is bold, rich and complex, loaded with ripe pear and hazelnut shadings. Provides the kind of sophistication and finesse you usually have to pay two or three times as much to enjoy." 92/100 Wine Spectator.

$31.99

2007 Highfield Vintage Methode Traditionelle

Normally $37.00 and great buying for a vintage aged Methode. "Highfield makes a richer style of sparkling, with weight added to the wine through its extended time on yeast lees and partial fermentation in oak. The 2007 is a particularly fine example, with powerful notes of toasted spice bread counterpoised by a brisk grapefruit acidity." NZ Herald.

$29.99

Hunters Miru Miru Methode Traditionele

Elsewhere $27. This is a methode that we have sold pallets and pallets of because Hunters age the wine far longer than the average methode and this gives the wine that yeasty character that all good bubblys should display. Miru Miru is the Maori term for bubbles. This is one of the few NZ sparkling wines to include the champagne grape varity Pinot Meunier in its blend, although at 5% it plays a relatively minor role to chardonnay ( 58% ) and pinot noir ( 37% ). 5 stars in Cuisine. "Rich and complex, the toasty, nutty nose introduces a full throttle sparkling wine of real weight and power. The palate has great length and a vibrant, clean finish. A broader bubbly for those who enjoy a big mouthfeel." Cuisine.

$21.99

Chandon N.V. Brut Methode Traditionelle

Normally $28 Domain Chandon was established by Moet and Chandon in 1986 in the Yarra Valley. Fresh and elegant using premium chardonnay and pinot noir grapes. 'Fresh stonefruit characters combine with extended yeast age complexity and a soft dry finish." Excellent value bubbly

$23.99

Chandon N.V. Brut Rose Methode Traditionelle

Normally $28. Established in 1986 by Moet & Chandon this is immacute Rose. A fresh, vibrant sparkling wine blended from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A small amount of Pinot Noir provides fresh strawberry and raspberry notes and balances the creamy and complex middle palate, a result of 18 months yeast age. With a crisp, long finish Chandon NV Rose is a refreshing aperitif, or the perfect partner to a range of foods. Great Rose bubbly buying.
