Normally $24. 95/100 from Bob Campbell, Gold Medal International Wine & Spirit Competition, Gold Medal NZ International Wine Show. "Powerful wine with focused, linear flavours. Strong mineral, nettle, green capsicum notes with an influence of passionfruit. Juicy acidity helps drive a lengthy finish. A blend of Awatere and Wairau fruit." Bob Campbell.

With the larger sized bottles keeping wine fresher these magnums are drinking beautifully. A great present or for the dinner party, we grabbed a small parcel of these with open arms. "N.Z.'s most internationally acclaimed wine is highly sought after from Sydney to New York and London.

The 10ha site has three of NZ's leading wineries making their pinot from it with Felton Road and Craggy Range being the other two. ( Its situated 500meters away from Felton Block 3 and 5 ). 91/100 from Parkers Wine Advocate that writes "The 2009 Calvert Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir comes from 11 year old vines on schist. It displays a deep ruby-purple color and meaty/gamey aromas over a core of black cherry and black raspberry plus hints of some tar, anise and menthol. Full bodied and concentrated in the mouth, it has chewy tannins, medium-high acid and a long savory finish. Drink it now through 2015+.
Mike and Claudia Weersing continue to work nature’s magic on their wines. The results are truly unique wines that can only come from these creative hands working out of this pretty patch just inland from the Waipara. Even more exciting is that the quality straight across the estate and growers labels just gets better and more consistent each year from this relatively new operation. The Growers Collection is a range of wines sourced from throughout New Zealand that have been grown organically and are made by Mike. The Home Vineyards Collection represents wines that are wines produced biodynamically off the small but beautiful “home” estate in North Canterbury. Both ranges are well worth seeking out."

90/100 from Robert Parkers Wine Advocate "The 2009 Rose Vineyard Marlborough Riesling gives a chalky, mineral nose with some straw and lime leaf plus a little citrus zest and freshly made bread dough. Made to a relatively dry style, it has a medium body and lively acidity cutting through the elegant fruit, finishing long and steely. Approachable now, it should drink well to 2016+. "

Probably the best N.Z. semillon we've tried. Stunning 90/100 from Parkers Wine Advocate "The 2007 Hille Vineyard Marlborough Semillon gives a grassy, herbaceous nose over notes of lemongrass and crushed rocks. Dry, very herbal and stony on the palate with crisp acid and medium body, it has a long earthy finish. Drink this one now through 2013. "

Normally $37.00 and great buying for a vintage aged Methode. "Highfield makes a richer style of sparkling, with weight added to the wine through its extended time on yeast lees and partial fermentation in oak. The 2007 is a particularly fine example, with powerful notes of toasted spice bread counterpoised by a brisk grapefruit acidity." NZ Herald.

One of the best consistent under the radar sauvignons on the market. "Typically a very classy wine- scented and harmonious, with rich, limey fruit flavours and excellent depth. The 2011 is ripely scented and medium- bodied, with strong melon/ lime flavours, racy acidity, and lees-aging notes adding complexity." M.Cooper.

Normally $22."The Doctors'" refers to owners John and Brigid Forrest (he a PhD, she a GP) and the therapeutic value of drinking lower alcohol wine. Made in the so-called "German-style" with fermentation stopped early to produce an alcohol level of only 8.5% and a residual sugar level of 42g/l. 4 1/2 stars by M.Cooper who writes "The 2010 vintage is deliciously light and lively, with plentiful sweetness and fresh, strong lemon and lime flavours, showing lovely delicacy and poise. ( Most vintages break into full stride at about two years old. )."

Gold and Trophy for 'Best Dessert Wine" at the Royal NZ Easter Show- a quality sticky for very good money from a single-vineyard wine, grown in the heart of the Wairau Valley. ( in fact right next door to Cloudy Bay ) "From totally botrytised grapes, harvested in Marlborough, the 2009 is a low alcohol style ( 9% ), with fresh passionfruit, spice and citrus flavours, sweet ( 230grams/ litre of residual sugar ), rounded and luscious." M.Cooper
