2008 Kumeu Coddington Chardonnay

Coddington Chardonnay comes from a single vineyard about 3 kilometers from the winery that was planted in 1994. The soil here is predominately clay and the vines are all Clone 5. The 2008 Coddington Chardonnay is the third vintage of this wine produced by Kumeu River. Barrel fermented using natural yeasts and about 20-25% new French oak,.100% goes through malo-lactic. The nose is already very expressive displaying really intense ripe pineapple and pink guava aromas with a toasty/biscuit undercurrent and nuances of lime juice, orange blossom and some butterscotch. Very crisp, rich, and medium-full bodied, this opulent, satin textured wine gives a long exotic-fruited finish. It’s temptingly approachable now, though it should drink best 2013-2017+. Around 850 cases were produced." 92/100 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

$42.99

2008 Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay

"The 2008 Hunting Hill Chardonnay comes from a vineyard just across from the winery, also planted to Clone 5. It’s a slightly cooler site with an iron pan running beneath the vineyard. This is the third vintage of this label. Made in a similar fashion to the Coddington Chardonnay, this wine gives powerful lime/lemon aromas with some grapefruit zest and orange blossom plus a whiff of chalk. Very crisp, intense and silky, this is a more restrained, tight-knit expression leaving a very long mineral and citrus zest finish. Built for the cellar, this wine should be best 2014 to 2019+. Around 1000 cases were made." 93+/100 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

$42.99

2010 Coopers Creek 'The Limeworks' Hawkes Bay Chardonnay

Normally this retails elsewhere at $22. M.Coopers runner up 'White Wine of the Year' in his Buyers Guide. Always a favourite and so well priced. The 'Limeworks' vineyard is strewn with limestone and in fact sits next to a limeworks ( hence the name for this wine ). "The 2010 is powerful and youthful. The bouquet is biscuity and oaky, with good complexity; the palate is rich, with well-ripened stone-fruit and nut flavours, good acid spine and a long finish. 4 1/2 Stars.' M.Cooper Brillant, brilliant chardonnay buying.

$15.99

98/100 from Anthony Blue which is the highest score every achieved for a NZ Red. Also 93/100 from Parkers Wine Advocate and 93/100 from Bob Campbell and 5 stars M.Cooper. Top United States wine critic and Editor-In-Chief of The Tasting Panel magazine, Anthony Dias Blue, awarded Destiny Bay his highest rating ever for a New Zealand red wine. He also rated the 2007 Destinae with a 90 and the 2007 Mystae with a 93. Understated but growing in intensity in the glass. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins, very powerful and yet controlled. Harmonious towards the finish. Very polished but beautifully poised, this is a wonderful Waiheke wine. Drink 2011-2018." 93/100. ( Packaged in a beautiful 3 pack if you wanted to order 3 btls- total for a 3 pack $732.00 )

2009 Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay

"The 2009 Estate Chardonnay gives intense notes of ripe apricots, guava, green mango and honey coated nuts with nuances of lightly browned toast and white blossoms. Medium bodied with a silken texture, it gives great concentration, crisp acidity and a long toasty finish. Drinking now, it should cellar to 2016+." 91/100 Roberrt Parkers Wine Advocate "A youthful wine yet exhibits seductive complexity and irresistible aromas of white peach, citrus, oatmeal and a touch of flint. The palate is concentrated and beautifully integrated with fine texture and bright acidity providing superb structure and a refreshing mouthfeel. As always, this vintage of Kumeu River Chardonnay is meticulously detailed with an outstanding potential to develop gratifying flavours. At its best: now to 2016." 94/100 Sam Kim- Senior Wine Judge.

2006 Providence Private Reserve Merlot/Cab Franc/Malbec

This sells for eye watering amounts in offshore markets ( $500 plus per bottle ) and is highly sort after. 94/100from Robert Parkers Wine Advocate."This is one of New Zealands most expensive wines, sold in a dozen overseas markets but rarely seen here. The 2.5 ha vineyard at Matakana is close planted in Merlot ( principally ), Cabernet Franc and Malbec, and the wine is matured for up to two years in all new French oak barriques. It is typically a perfumed and graceful red that impresses not with sheer power, but with its harmony, complexity and silky elegance. If your a Bordeaux fan, you'll love it. M.Cooper. (A must for showing overseas visitors that NZ can produce Bordeaux styled reds!). "Deep garnet in colour, the 2006 Private Reserve Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Malbec offers an expressive nose of warm blackberries, smoked game, black olives and pencil shavings, with hints of cloves and dried Chinese plums. Medium bodied with a good backbone of medium-high acid and medium level, finely grained tannins, it giving layers of savoury and spiced berry preserve flavours, finishing long and harmonious. Delicious now, it should cellar gracefully to 2018 +" 94/100 Parker
