Very few straight Malbec's are availble in NZ. This is a cracker. "A bold and decadent wine that will be a sure crowd-pleaser, this has an impenetrable, youthful, black-purple red colour and a sensational bouquet packed with boysenberry and ripe, spicy black fruits, along with black florals and perfumes. This has plump, dense, ripe black fruits that explode and fill the mouth. Boysenberries, spicy raspberries and dark plums with red liquorice are all present in a near accessible, relatively open and broad palate, compared to the Kidnapper Cliffs’ Bordeaux varietal wines. Yet fine tannins here provide great style and length of line. 100% Malbec from ‘Zone 2’ Kidnappers block in the Gimblett Gravels. Aged 12 months in 25% new French oak 300L hogsheads. 200 dozen made. Drink over the next 8-10+ years with venison and game meat. 19.0/20." Raymond Chan- senior wine judge. Also 94/100 from Wine Orbit Magazine

Definitely one of NZ best viogniers'. From the steep sided biodynamic hillside vineyard called Les Arbes. "An organic Gisborne wine of arresting richness and complexity." M.Cooper. Made from hand picked fruit using indigenous yeasts and fermented in 600 litre barrels "Rich, unctuous wine with a velvet texture and plenty of weight. It's bone dry with classic apricot, floral and spice flavours. Very impressive wine in truly varietal style with underlying complexity from barrel and yeast lees work. Complex and very stylish, it has the "X" factor." 93/100 Bob Campbell

"From a small Hawkes Bay producer, this is a very stylish wine, dark, rich and smooth. Still youthful, with vibrant, well-ripened fruit flavours seasoned with new oak, it's a deliciously harmonious wine, unfolding well."

"The 2009 Calvert Vineyard Pinot Noir sports an exuberant, almost exotic nose with plush red-berried fruits, mango and over-ripe Satsuma. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced with fine tannins, intense red-berried fruit, citrus lemon and a hint of orange zest. There is impressive length and real vibrancy to this biodynamic gem, one of New Zealand’s most interesting projects." 91-93/100 R. Parker

"Sacred Hill's flagship Chardonnay is one of NZ's greatest chardonnays- powerful yet elegant, with striking intensity and outstanding cellaring potential. Grown in the cool, inland, elevated Riflemans vineyard in the Datmoor Valley, it is hand picked, whole bunch pressed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques ( new and one-year-old ) with some malolatic fermentation.

Its not often we find $20 NZ red we can hang our hat on but this is an incredibly good value merlot. This vineyard is surrounded by such stella vineyards as Craggy Range and Stonecroft. Close planted, leaf plucked, hand plunged and oak aging. Incredible merlot value for this intense hands on wine. "Intense aromas of plum, forrest berries and cedar. On the palate dark chocolate, fruit cake and leather with strong silky tannins lingering and lasting."

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Irongate Cabernet / Merlot / Franc has pronounced aromas of ripe plums, pencil shavings, warm cassis, crushed blackberries and cloves with a touch of cedar. Medium bodied with crisp acid and a medium-firm level of very fine grained tannins, it offers a good concentration of fruit and spice flavors with a long cedar and clove-laced finish.
