This white from the Loire valley in Northern France. Pierre and Monique Luneau-Papin are among those Muscadet vignerons offering a range of different bottles from individual micro-climates. This is from his old vine , low yielding muscadet grapes and is lees aged ( sur lie ). On the nose it has citrus fruits and minerals on the nose, with orange zest and white flower accents. Full and fleshy, almost plush with spicy citrus and quince flavors, bright firming acidity, and a finishing white pepper note. Sensational with raw oysters or sashimi.

The new vinatage of this classy chenin blanc thats arrived. "For some time now, Berhard Fouquet has been moving the quality of his distinctive, largely stainless steel-rendered Vouvrays into the exalted echelon of Foreau and Huet, which is to say challenging any of the world's finest practitioners of white wine, and at an absolutely unbeatable price:quality ratio. His latest results all but confirm his arrival. Bernard Fouquet's 2008 Vouvray Cuvee Silex (the latest tasting note we have). "Lychee, yellow cherry, Mirabelle, quince, and narcissus in the nose lead to a musky, subtly oily, chalk-inflected, honeyed, yet incisively zesty palate. This combines richness and palpably high extract with cut and invigoration in a way that only Chenin (and then only in the Central Loire) can. Its 6 grams of residual sugar perfectly set off the yellow fruits and hint of honey in this wine's long finish. This formidably-concentrated yet elegant wine is worth following for at least half a dozen years." 92/100 Robert Parker.

"The single-vineyard, nobly sweet (i.e. in all but name “moelleux”) Aubuisieres 2009 Vouvray Le Plan de Jean evokes aromas of quince jelly, spiced apple, over-ripe cantaloupe. Creamily rich on the palate, yet with a welcome sense of fresh lime juiciness, this wine’s stony, chalky underpinnings (from this rather clay-rich site) help to further buffer its sweetness. There is a succulence, lift and elegance here that too few wines of its vintage, sector, and style achieve, and the finish here is ravishing in its mingling of apple and quince jellies, marzipan, lime sherbet, melon and mineral cling. Expect this to be worth following for a quarter century"92/100 Parker

Vouvray is the most famous appellation of the Touraine, a wine district in the Loire Valley, western France. Created by decree in December 1936, the title covers white wines from eight parishes around the town of Vouvray, on the northern bank of the Loire river as it flows into the city of Tours.
This off dry vouvray is lip smacking. Made from Chenin Blanc the huge nose of apricots, pears, tropical fruit and flowers followed by a beautifully balanced wine of admirable depth and richness. Underlying all of this intensity is a distinctive terroir character that can only be described as a mineral flavour. The wine is rich, slightly sweet, and spectacularly pure and well- balanced.
