The 2005 Shiraz Reiver, made from 60-year-old Shiraz vines in the Greenock area of the Barossa, was aged 18 months in lightly toasted French oak. Its inky/blue/purple hue is followed by a lovely perfume of flowers, blackberries, espresso, and licorice. Aged completely in 300 liter hogsheads, it offers stunning richness and length, and should drink well for 10-12 years. 94/100 Parker

The 1998 Shiraz Number One's possesses a saturated color. The wine is full-bodied, with great flavor intensity, a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, and alcohol, and no obvious oak. With superb depth as well as loads of blackberry fruit, it should drink well for 10-15 years.- Robert Parker

"The 2007 Shotfire Shiraz was aged for 12-18 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak, 40% new. A saturated purple/black in color, this glass-coating effort has a nose of wood smoke, bacon, mineral, and blueberry that leaps from the glass. Rich and intense on the palate, it has layers of flavor, excellent balance, and a pure finish. It way over-delivers for its humble price. Drink it over the next six years." 92/100 Robert Parker.

"Jim Barry's flagship is the famous Armagh Shiraz.
"The 2006 The Armagh is one of Australia’s icon wines. Sourced from a vineyard planted in 1964 on its own roots, it is a100% Shiraz cuvee that spent 17 months in 100% new French and American oak before a bottling without fining and filtration. A saturated purple color, it gives off an enthralling nose of pain grille, smoked meat, incense, Asian spices, boysenberry, mulberry, and plum. With exceptional depth, richness, and structure, this impeccably balanced Shiraz can be cellared for another 6-8 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2026." 96/100 R.Parker

"The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpico ( 100% McLaren Vale fruit ) was treated like Amarone with the grapes picked relatively underripe and green, then dried for seven weeks before they were fermented. The result is a distinctive, full bodied Cabernet with no pruney or raisiny characteristics whatsoever. Its fresh acidity and lively backbone support a wine of enormous richness and intensity, offering up classic creme de cassis notes intermixed with white chocolate, damp forest, cedar, and toasty oak. Full bodied, opulent, powerful, and totally dry, with a sweet, rich mid-section, it should age well for 10-15 years." 94/100 Robert Parker

91/100 from Parker who writes "Aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Like the Cabernet, 20% dried fruit was included in the blend. Purple-coloured, it offers up an expressive nose of cedar, spice box, smoke, pepper, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied and supple textured, the wine has a forward personality with layers of spicy fruit and some elegance. It is for drinking over the next ten years. It too is an outstanding value."

"Fashioned from a McLaren Vale vineyard, the 2005 Shiraz G.A.M. (named after the Mitolo children – Gemma, Alexander, and Marco) is a deep ruby/purple-hued effort displaying beautiful blackberry, white pepper, licorice, and toasty oak notes. Rich, full-bodied, and intense, with blueberry and blackberry flavors, sweet tannin, and excellent purity, it is a tour de force in winemaking. Enjoy it over the next decade. 95/100 R.Parker

We managed to get a small allocation of this hugely reviewed wine. ( 95/100 from Parker )
"The 2007 Anaperrena Shiraz (75%)-Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) was sourced from 30- to 120-year-old vines with yields ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 tons of fruit per acre. It spent 15 months in new oak, predominantly French. Purple/black in color, it offers up a splendid nose of pain grille, mineral, scorched earth, blueberry, and black currant. Dense and massive on the palate, it has layers of ripe fruit, excellent balance, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Allow it 3-4 years to round out and drink it from 2011 to 2022." R.Parker.
