Cloudy Bay, Marlborough, New Zealand
We have a small allocation of this sticky. Pale gold with aromas of limes and dried apricots. Lively mandarin and citrus intermingle with a hint of lanolin on the luscious, honeyed palate. Cleansing acidity counterbalances the rich sweetness of this wine, which finishes with the crispness of a grapefruit.

Rieussec is one of the richest and most exotic of all Sauternes, producing particularly good wines in the late 1980s and the mid 1990s. Rieussec has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild since 1985 and is located at one of the highest points of Sauternes in the village of Fargues where its vineyards border those of Chateau d`Yquem.
Rieussec's 75 hectares of vineyards are planted with 89% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle. Yields are low and the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and oak casks before being matured in oak barriques (70% new) for 18-24 months. Classsfied as a 1er Cru Classe, its best vintages rival those from d`Yquem.
"Coppery. Diffuse rather toasty nose. Very very sweet but with enormous acidity too and depth. Toasty, almost burnt, a very strong expression with some depth though the sweetness is such that it easily masks everything else at this stage. 18/20." Jancis Robinson. "Butter toffee and honey show through on the nose with floral overtones and ripe melons. Rich and quite viscous on the palate with plenty of glycerol and a creamy texture. Clean and long with botrytis and a little spice to the finish. ONE OF THE WINES OF THE VINTAGE. " Farr Vintners. "Loads of spicy honey and apple character. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a solid core of fruit and lots of botrytis character. Very racy. 95-100/100. Wine Spectator

Delicate flavours of satsuma, flowers and honey with candied citrus hints on the nose. Fat, full and creamy, this is incredibly rich. In texture. With butter, caramel and coconut hints to the pineapple fruit. This is undoubtedly an opulent offering.Farr Vintners Hint of bronze, blossomy on the nose. Very full and intense and has absolutely MASSES of weight. Unmissable. You could slice this in two. Most impressive. This should live for almost ever. Very neat finish. Acidity well hidden. Drink 2018y35Jancis Robinson Intense aromas of honey, spice and candied lemons. Full-bodied, very sweet and dense, with a syrupy mouthfeel and a long finish. This is very concentrated. Almost classic quality.James Suckling

Much in the style of the Pegasus Bay Aria ( but a lot cheaper! ) the 2007 Peregrine Charcoal Creek Riesling is made in a late harvest style and comes from John and Barbara Hosie's Charcoal Creek vineyard in the Lowburn Valley just north of Cromwell. This Riesling was left on the vines well past the traditional end of harvest and has produced some wonderful flavours developed through the combination of hang time and the influence of 15% botrytis infection at the time of harvest. The resulting wine is not an over the top cloying sticky monster but a melting pot of honey, apricot, grapefruit marmalade beautifully presented by its elegant structure. Charcoal Creek Riesling is a delicate sweet wine that has a perfect combination of flavour complexity, fruit sweetness and superbly balanced acidity. A snip for a full bottle of late harvest riesling.

Craggy Range Vineyards, Gisborne & Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
This was one of the highlight wines at our Craggy Range tasting- its sensational. "Pale greenish straw in colour. Aromas of marmalade, fresh cut orange, citrus zest and hints of baking spices and orange pekoe tea. The palate remains fresh and is loaded with ripe citrus, mango and stonefruit flavours.
Concentrated and succulent with generous natural
sweetness and balanced acidity. A fine powdery textural line leads to a long juicy finish."
