Proper, bone dry rose made by our superb Rioja producer in Spain'. Fermented in 1000 litre wooden casks and left on its lees. "Bright pink. A complex bouquet displays scents of red berries, cherry, dried flowers, anise and baking spices. Pliant, silky red berry flavors display good depth and gentle sweetness, with a late note of fennel adding complexity. Finishes with good juicy persistence and lingering minerality. Dry enough to work by itself but has the power to handle richer, grilled foods" 88/100 Tanzer

L''Hortus, Southern France, France
True rose in the sense that it is a light red/orange colour and made from grenache. Lovely light delicate rose petal, cherry, raspberry nose with a restrained, dry finish. "Wedged in the narrow plane between the dramatic peak of Pic St-Loup and the sheer limestone cliffs of Hortus is the Domaine L'Hortus. This is hard graft- one full-timer to help Jean with 33ha and the family pitching in during holidays. The usual quality factors pertain: low yields, longish cuvaisons with a rigorous selection." Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes harvested from selected vineyards in Gibbston, this Rose is overflowing with delicate flavours of raspberries, watermelon and strawberries. 36 hours of contact with the skins has imparted a lovely salmon tint to the hue of the wine. Best enjoyed well chilled in the searing heat of summer ( when we have one! ).
