"Youthful purple color. Sexy Asian spice and red berry aromas are complicated by smoked meat and incense. Darker berries are on display in the mouth, along with hints of black olive and sweet chewing tobacco. Finishes with good grip and a jolt of refreshingly bitter cherry pit. This is already beginning to show some complexity."88-91 Tanzer

"The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino presents a remarkable balance of ripe fruit, structure and freshness. Violets, dark cherries, new leather and spices are all woven together in an elegant fabric of notable class. The purity of the fruit is superb and the finish boasts tons of finesse, with silky tannins that frame the close." 93/100 Parker. "Blackberries and black cherries on the nose follow through to a full body, with soft and silky tannins.Long finish." 93/100 Wine Spectator

Beautifully presented in a wooden gift box containing six bottles of Torre Muga. Torre Muga is an unfiltered blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 10% Graciano. Aged 22 months in large (18,000 liters) American oak vats, followed by 16 months in new French oak, and bottled without fining or filtration."Exotically perfumed,syrah-like bouquet of red and dark berries, violet, smokey bacon and graphite, with vanillin oak spice undertone adding an exotic touch.Fleshy,palate-staining cassis and bitter cherry flavours are brightened by piquant minerality and firmed by fine-grained tannins.Cracked pepper and mace qualities come up on the long, silky finish.Extremely suave and strikingly complex wine with excellent balance."

The third release for this single vineyard wine. Hunting Hill is a vineyard that was first planted in 1982 and was a significant part of the original Kumeu River Chardonnay blend. Occupying the slope overlooking Mate's Vineyard, it has always contributed lovely ripe and rich fruit to the Estate Chardonnay. After being replanted in 2000, Hunting Hill shows beautifully ripe fruit with a distinctive mealy minerality. The Chardonnay from Hunting Hill shares some of the characters with the neighbouring Mate's Vineyard with its distinctive floral notes and restrained elegance. This site has a particularly pure character that, in its youth, displays a tight and crisp palate which needs some bottle age to reveal the power and concentration that lies beneath the surface. As with Mate's Vineyard, this wine will improve with bottle age for 4 to 6 years and was made in the same way as the other Kumeu River chardonnays.
